Cam Akers is an American football running back for the Minnesota Vikings, as of the 2024 NFL season. The Los Angeles Rams drafted him as the 52nd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Akers appeared in 13 games while starting five in his rookie year. He recorded 145 rushing attempts for 625 yards and 2 touchdowns in 2020, as per ESPN. Akers sustained a torn Achilles in the Rams’ Super Bowl (LVI) winning season in 2021. After four seasons and 30 appearances over four seasons, Akers was traded to the Minnesota Vikings. After playing a season for the Houston Texans, Akers returned to Minnesota for his second stint in October 2024. In the 11 games he has appeared for the Vikings in 2024, Akers has recorded 58 rushing attempts for 232 yards and one touchdown, as per ESPN.

Growing up in Mississippi, Akers attended Clinton High School, where he could play as a quarterback and running back as well. He rushed for 2,105 yards and 34 touchdowns as a senior, according to his Florida State player profile. Akers was named Gatorade Player of the Year and also played in the U.S Army American Bowl. Akers committed to Florida State University in 2017. He played in all 13 games as a freshman having 194 attempts for 1,025 yards and seven touchdowns in 2017, according to Sports Reference. In the 36 games he appeared in college over three seasons, Akers completed 586 rushing attempts for 2,875 yards and 27 touchdowns.
