Chris Jones is an American football defensive tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs as of the 2024 NFL season. He was selected as the 37th overall pick in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. Jones, a native of Houston, Mississippi, went to Houston High School. A standout player since school, the five-star prospect chose Mississippi State University and played for three years as a Bulldog from 2013 to 2015. The six-time pro bowler finished his collegiate career by accumulating 102 total tackles, 18 tackles for loss, and 8.5 sacks as per Sports Reference.

In his debut campaign in the NFL, Jones earned a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie team in 2016. Jones accumulated 8.5 sacks and had 11 pass deflections through his first two seasons. However, his breakthrough came in his third year as he racked up a career-high 15.5 sacks in 2018. Since 2018, he has not had a single season with less than 7.5 sacks. The three-time Super Bowl champion has two seasons with more than 15 sacks under his belt as of January 2025. He has been named to First-team All-Pro and Second-team All-Pro three times each in his first nine seasons. As of January 2025, Jones has tallied 310 total tackles with 80.5 sacks for the Chiefs. In 2024, Jones signed a five-year $158,750,000 contract and would earn an average salary of $31,750,000 as per Spotrac.
