Clyde Edwards-Helaire is a running back for the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL. He was a starter post his debut (drafted in 2020 as the 32nd overall pick) in the 2020 season but has now lost that position.

Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Edwards-Helaire enrolled at Catholic High School, where he laid the groundwork for his football journey. During the 5A State Championship game, he recorded eight receptions for 161 yards and an additional 88 rushing yards with a touchdown. His outstanding performance earned him the title of MVP of the 5A State Championship game. He concluded his high school career with a four-star rating and chose to play college football at Louisiana State University. In 2020, after being picked by the Chiefs, he signed a four-year rookie contract with the team, valued at $10.8 million.

Edwards-Helaire attended Louisiana State University, where he played college football for the LSU Tigers from 2017 to 2019. In the 2017 season, Edwards-Helaire played mostly on special teams and recorded nine rushing attempts for 31 yards in all 13 games played. Additionally, he recorded three receptions for 46 yards.

As a sophomore, he concluded the 2018 season with 658 rushing yards, seven touchdowns, and 11 receptions for 96 yards. Furthermore, he recorded 17 kick returns for 416 yards.

During the 2019 season, he performed outstandingly well, amassing over 1,400 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 55 receptions for 453 yards with an additional touchdown. His remarkable performance earned him a spot on the 2019 first-team All-SEC.

He also clinched the 2019 CFP national champion title with his team after defeating the Clemson Tigers in a 42-25 victory. Following the 2019 season, he opted out of his senior season and entered the 2020 NFL Draft.
