His career as a professional football player started when he was selected by the New York Giants in the 1999 NFL Draft. He also played college football with the Texas A&M Aggies football team. During Campbell’s run in his college career from 1995 to 1998 he was considered one of the best players in his college.

Campbell's professional career as a football coach began in 2010 when he was hired by the Miami Dolphins as a coaching intern.
