
De’Von Achane is an American football running back who recently took his first step of entering the NFL and is now looking forward to making a name for himself in the league.
As of January 2024, Achane is 22 years old. He was born in Missouri City, Texas on 13 October 2001. He began playing college football while growing up and played high school football at Thurgood Marshall High School.
He received a four-star recruit rating and concluded his high school career with 4,795 rushing yards and secured 87 touchdowns. Beyond the football field, he participated in track and earned the title of 2020 Texas Gatorade Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year.
After completing high school, he continued to play college football for Texas A&M University. Following his college career, he was selected by the Miami Dolphins as the 84th overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
The Dolphins have multiple running backs and Achane has joined the squad as the newest addition. During Week 3, he won the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Denver Broncos. However, his rookie season isn’t about the accolades, he experienced injuries and was placed on the injured reserve. Fortunately, he was activated after recovering from his knee injury. Achane attended Texas A&M University and committed to playing college football for the Texas A&M Aggies. He represented the Aggies from 2020 to 2022 before entering the NFL Draft.
In 2020, Achane was positioned as the backup to Isaiah Spiller. Having played in eight games, he concluded the season with 364 rushing yards on 43 carries and secured four touchdowns. Additionally, he recorded 97 receiving yards and one touchdown. For his performance in the 2021 Orange Bowl, he secured the title of MVP of the Orange Bowl.
In 2021, he participated in 12 games and concluded the season with over 1,000 all-purpose yards, securing nine rushing touchdowns with an additional receiving touchdown. Furthermore, he made a significant impact with a 96-yard kick-off return, contributing to the Aggies' victory over No. 1 Alabama.
In 2022, he was named the team’s starter running back and started in all 10 games, recording a career-high with 1,102 rushing yards, recording eight rushing touchdowns along with 196 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. He also earned a spot in the first-team All-SEC.
