A mainstay of the Philadelphia Eagles organization for the past decade, Fletcher Cox has been a consistently excellent defensive threat for the city of Brotherly Love. One of the best defensive faculty of the 2010s decade, Cox still remains a valuable part of the Philadelphia rotation.

Coming out of high school, Fletcher was a four-star recruit and was offered scholarships from multiple high-end programs including LSU and Alabama. Ultimately, he chose to go to Mississippi State and was there for three seasons. Coming into a score in his junior year, he was named an All-American as he totaled more than 100 tackles including 11 quarterbacks. The next year, he was just as impressive, equalling those numbers. He was also a phenomenal drag athlete as he finished a movie high jump event while also recording excellent times in relay races.

A favorite for the Eagles, the name jumped three sports to select Cox with the belt overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Immediately thrust into a major role, he finished with 39 tackles over his 15 played games and made the All-Rookie team for his excellent production. The next season is changing the defensive scheme for the Eagles saw Cox turn into a defensive end and accumulate 44 tackles, up from his previous year's production.

The next year was the true breakout for Fletcher, as he put together a remarkable season, totaling 61 tackles and four sacks while also earning second-team All-Pro honors. However, that was just the beginning.

Fletcher Cox’s Jersey Number

During his days at Mississippi State, Fletcher wore the number 94. However, when he made his way over to the NFL, the number was already taken for the Eagles squad. As a result, he chose to wear the number 91 and has stuck by it for more than a decade now. Today, he claims, “I’m Number 91.”

The next season Cox continued right where he left off as he increased his totals in each major category and earned a second straight second-team, All-Pro selection while also being named to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career. The following year, a switch in the Eagles scheme again saw Fletcher returned to his defensive tackle position. As his productivity was on the rise, the Eagles signed him to a $103,000,000 extension. He followed up with another strong season and was named to his second consecutive Pro Bowl. 2017 was the crowning achievement of his career. While he was individually spectacular yet again earning a third straight Pro Bowl selection, he was busy elsewhere during the time of the game. Making his way to the Super Bowl with the Eagles, his defensive presence was crucial for his team. Completing the journey, they defeated the New England Patriots 41-33, earning Cox his first Super Bowl.

Rejuvenated, Cox came back stronger than ever earning another Pro Bowl appearance, while also being selected for the first time to the first-team All-Pro. He continued his strong play over the following couple of seasons, earning back-to-back Pro Bowl selections. Moreover, he was also selected as one of the four defensive tackles to make the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team. His strong play has continued into the 2020 decades as well as he was one of the key factors in leading a phenomenal Eagles defense to another Super Bowl appearance in 2022 where they eventually lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. This past offseason, Fletcher signed a one-year deal with the Eagles that will keep him under contract as the team looks to make another run at the Super Bowl.
