Jalen Hurts is an American professional football player who plays as quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. He was drafted by the Eagles in the 2nd round of the 2020 NFL draft with the 53rd overall pick. Hurts was born in Houston, Texas on August 7, 1998. The two-time Pro Bowler attended high school at Channelview High School, where his father coached him to play football. His high school career was successful, with Hurts emerging as a 4-star recruit and a dual-threat quarterback with the ability to pass and rush.

Hurts was initially recruited by Texas A&M but chose to commit to the University of Alabama. Under Nick Saban, Hurts had a stellar rookie season and continued to see success in his next two years at the University of Alabama. The former SEC Offensive Player of the Year transferred to the University of Oklahoma for a fourth year of college football. He had an impressive run at the University of Oklahoma as well, leading his team to secure a spot in the College Basketball Playoff and the Big 12 championship. Individually, he had a great season which culminated in him being placed second in voting for the Heisman trophy.
