Jalen Hurts is an American professional football player who plays as quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles as of January 2025. He was drafted by the Eagles in the 2nd round of the 2020 NFL draft with the 53rd overall pick. Hurts was born in Houston, Texas on August 7, 1998. The two-time Pro Bowler attended high school at Channelview High School, where his father coached him to play football. Upon graduation, he was a 4-star recruit and a dual-threat quarterback with the ability to pass and rush.

Hurts was initially recruited by Texas A&M but chose to commit to the University of Alabama. Under Nick Saban, Hurts had a stellar rookie season and continued to see success in his next two years at the University of Alabama. The former SEC Offensive Player of the Year transferred to the University of Oklahoma for a fourth year of college football in 2019.

In his second season, Hurts led the Eagles to the playoffs but was defeated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wildcard round. He completed the season with 3,144 passing yards, 16 passing touchdowns, 784 rushing yards, and 10 rushing touchdowns.

The 2022 season served as a breakout season for Hurts, as he led his team to the Super Bowl championship game. However, the Eagles were defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs. He completed the season with a starting record of 14 wins to 1 loss. He was named to the Pro Bowl and Second-Team All-Pro.
