American football quarterback Jalen Alexander Hurts plays for the Philadelphia Eagles as of January 2025. He was drafted as the 53rd overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He started four games in his rookie year appearing in 15 games. He became a regular in the 2021 season finishing with a record of 8-7. He led the league for the longest completed pass (91 yards) that year. Hurts had a breakout season in 2022 finishing with a record of 14-1 as he completed 306 passes for 3,701 yards. He was named to his first Pro Bowl in 2022. He is a two-time Pro Bowl and also won the Bert Bell Award in 2022.

Growing up in Texas, Hurts attended Channelview High School. He was named the District 21-6A Overall MVP as a junior during his high school. He rushed for 1,391 yards and 25 touchdowns as a senior and tossed for 2,384 yards and 26 touchdowns (via the official website of the University of Oklahoma ). Hurts committed to the University of Alabama in 2016. He started 14 games in his freshman year completing 240 passes for 2,780 yards. After three seasons and 42 appearances, Hurts transferred to the University of Oklahoma. In his only year at Oklahoma, Hurts completed 237 passes for 3,851 yards (according to Sports Reference).

Jalen Hurts wears the number 1 jersey for the Philadelphia Eagles as of November 2024. He started his NFL career wearing the number 2 however, he switched it in April 2021. He is only the eighth player in franchise history to wear the number 1. He will fill in the shoes of players like Tony Franklin and Cameron Johnston who wore the number 1 for Eagles previously, as per the official NFL website.

Hurts, during his days at the University of Alabama, used to wear the jersey number 2. However, Hurts also donned the number 1 jersey for them. When he transferred to Oklahoma State, Hurts continued to play with the jersey number 1 through his college career.
