American football player Jer’Zhan Newton is a defensive tackle who played four years of college football at the University of Illinois on the Illinois Fighting Illini football team. Newton is one of the more highly reputed defenders in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. Although his build is a little small for the position, Newton can counter his disadvantage with his quick feet and ability to suddenly change his hands and set up blockers on the offensive line.

Newton was born in the city of St. Petersburg, Florida, on August 31, 2002, in a family that is gung-ho about football. He is one of five siblings - all boys and Jer’Zhan is the fourth youngest among them. He went to Clearwater Central Catholic High School as did all of his other siblings and then joined the University of Illinois as a freshman in 2020.

The Florida native who stands at a height of 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m) and weighs around 295 lb (134 kg), is a threat for any offense with the interior threat that he possesses. He is a good run defender who has explosive speed and is equally capable of putting pressure on blockers from either side.

For the past couple of years, he has had to deal with increasing double teams with very rare one-on-one matchups. Several times opposing teams also rolled their quarterbacks away from him which just goes to show how much he is feared by the offense. Newton is one of the better defensive tackles in this draft class and his name should be heard on Day 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Newton’s NIL value is not documented on the popular NIL valuation website On3. However, as per an article written in The Daily Illini website, Newton is said to have an NIL valuation of around $502,000 making him one of the more valuable athletes at the University of Illinois.

The only known NIL deal of Newton is the one he signed with NextName which is a leading NIL program for collegiate athletes. NextName enables these athletes to earn money through various modes such as brand partnerships, affiliate marketing, and digital collectables. Fans are able to support Newton through his digital collectibles which are also known as non-fungible tokens.

At the moment, this is the only known NIL deal that Newton had during his college days. Being a member of the defensive line is not the most ideal position companies target to promote their products.
