In Super Bowl XLV he was the alternate referee which was held in Arlington, Texas on Feb 6, 2011. In Super XLVII which was held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans in 2013, Bogar was chosen to be the referee and he became the second African-American to do so.
