Joshua Cordell Jacobs is an American football running back for the Green Bay Packers in the NFL. The Oakland Raiders drafted Jacobs with the 24th pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, with a selection obtained in the September 2018 Khalil Mack trade from the Chicago Bears. Jacobs concluded his debut 2019 season with seven touchdowns and 1150 rushing yards. In addition to that, he won the PFWA Offensive Rookie of the Year award and was named to the NFL All-Rookie Team. With 15 starts the following 2020 NFL season, Jacobs finished with 33 receptions for 238 receiving yards, 273 rushing attempts for 1,065 rushing yards, and 12 rushing touchdowns. During the 2022 NFL season, Jacobs ​was named to the first team All-Pro and Pro Bowl. However, the Raiders declared that they would not exercise the fifth-year option on Jacobs’ contract. In 2023, the Raiders applied their franchise tag on Jacobs and signed a one-year $11.7 million contract, as per Spotrac. In 2024, Jacobs signed a four-year $48 million contract with the Green Bay Packers.

Jacobs played collegiate football at the University of Alabama from 2016 to 2018. During his freshman season, Jacobs recorded a total of 85 rushing attempts for 567 yards and four touchdowns. In 2017, Jacobs did not play the starting two games of the season due to a hamstring injury. In his junior season, Jacobs was named the Most Valuable Player of the SEC Championship Game in 2018. Prior to playing collegiate football, Jacobs played high school football at McLain High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Jacobs recorded a total of 56 touchdowns.

As of October 2024, the most recent injury that Jacobs endured was a lower back sprain which happened in Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season. In 2023, Jacobs sustained a quad bruise. Jacobs also sustained two injuries during the 2021 NFL season and a sprain and a fracture prior to that while playing in the NFL.

Back Lower Lumbar Sprain/Pull Unspecified Grade I (2024)

As of October 2024, Jacobs listed a back issue during Week 2’s injury report of the 2024 NFL season. However, the sprain did not lead him to miss any games.

Leg Quad Bruise (2023)

In Week 14 of the 2023 NFL season, Jacobs suffered a quad injury during a game against the Vikings. This injury caused him to miss the last four games of the season.

Chest Rib Bruise (2021)

In the victory over the Eagles in Week 7 of the 2021 NFL season, Jacobs suffered a chest contusion.

Pedal Ankle Sprain/Pull Unspecified Grade I (2021)

In the first-week victory over the Ravens during the 2021 season, Jacobs sustained an ankle injury that kept him out for two games.

Pedal Ankle Sprain Grade II (2020)

The Week 12 loss to the Atlanta Falcons during the 2020 NFL season resulted in Jacobs sustaining a sprained ankle. He missed the following game due to the injury.

Shoulder Clavicle Fracture (2019)

During Week 7 of his debut season, Jacobs had sustained a shoulder injury. He did not play in the Week 14 game against the Titans and the same ailment kept him out of the last two games of the season.
