Justin Gabriel Barron is a former collegiate football linebacker from Syracuse University. Barron committed to the Syracuse Orange football program in 2020 and played for them until the end of the 2024 season. In five years, he played on the field 62 times. Barron began playing college football as a wide receiver. He moved to defense in 2021. As a redshirt freshman, he primarily played on special teams and had four tackles. As a sophomore defensive back, he accumulated 42 tackles, one half-tackle loss, and three pass breakups. As a junior, he went up to 64 tackles, five tackles for loss, a sack, and a fumble recovery. His senior year in 2023 was his breakout season. He led the team with 90 tackles, added five tackles for loss, half a sack, seven pass breakups, an interception, and forced three fumbles, as per Syracuse's official website.

In 2024, Barron served as team captain. He wrapped up the season with 86 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception, and a fumble recovery. He was named Walter Camp Connecticut Player of the Year in both 2023 and 2024. Throughout his collegiate career, Barron totaled 294 tackles, the third-most among Syracuse defensive backs. He also recorded 20 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two interceptions, 14 pass deflections, and three forced fumbles.
