Lathan Ransom is a football safety who played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes for five seasons from 2020 to 2024. Lathan Ransom commenced his high school football career at Salpointe Catholic High School, where he was ranked the No.5 safety nationally by 247Sports. During his varsity years, he accumulated 26 career touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He was a consensus four-star recruit and was ranked the 4th best safety in the 2020 recruiting class. The versatile defensive back can play both as a cornerback and a safety.

The former four-star defensive back from Southern Arizona chose to sign with Ohio State over several offers from Alabama, Arizona State, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Oregon, Texas A&M, and USC, among others. In his freshman season, Ransom saw action in seven games, as his debut year was greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. In the 2021 season, Ransom played in all of the Buckeyes’ 13 games and finished his sophomore season with 38 tackles, five pass breakups, and one forced fumble. In 2023, he had two starts and was credited with 27 tackles and a forced fumble. Ransom began the 2023 season as a safety but suffered a season-ending leg injury against the Wisconsin Badgers and missed the final five contests of the year. Last season, Ransom delivered a standout campaign with the Buckeyes, tallying 75 combo tackles while leading them to the CFP national championship before announcing himself for the 2025 NFL Draft.
