Mark Andrews

Mark Andrews, who is a tight end for the Baltimore Ravens, is not a regular football player as he has been battling type 1 diabetes for a very long time. Ever since he was 9 years old, he has been monitoring his sugar levels. His illness is so serious that Andrews checks his blood sugar levels 30 times in a single game and uses an insulin pump that helps him share his blood sugar levels with his family, team’s head trainer, and himself according to UMass.

Andrews is regarded as one of the best tight ends in the league. He switched from wide receiver to tight end at Oklahoma where he played four seasons of college football. After getting redshirted in his freshman season, he went on to rack up nearly 1,800 yards in his next three years with the Sooners. Andrews was selected as the 88th overall pick in round 3 of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. As of January 2025, he has played seven seasons with the Ravens and has made 436 receptions for 5,530 along with 51 touchdowns as per ESPN.
