Mark Andrews, who is a tight end for the Baltimore Ravens, is not a regular football player as he has been battling type 1 diabetes for a very long time. Ever since he was 9 years old, he has been monitoring his sugar levels. Despite the challenges, he has shown the world that a person can still be great if they put their heart and mind to it. His illness is so serious that Andrews checks his blood sugar levels 30 times in a single game and uses an insulin pump that helps him share his blood sugar levels with his family, team’s head trainer, and himself.
However, this has not stopped Andrews from dominating on the field. He is a downfield and a red-zone threat who can create space by getting loose and slippery behind coverages. For a guy who claims to be “nervous,” before games, Andrews is one of the best tight ends in the league.
Andrews was a soccer player before he switched to football. Andrews switched from wide receiver to tight end at Oklahoma. After getting redshirted in his freshman season, he went on to rack up nearly 1,800 yards in his next three years with the Sooners.
He was out with an ankle injury in 2023 and it was a huge setback for the Baltimore Ravens. He was having a great season before the injury. However, he came back to play in AFC Championship game.
Mark Andrews’ 40 time
Andrews ran the 40-yard dash in 4.67 seconds which was ranked in the 75th percentile. His height is another attribute that stood out and was ranked in the 76th percentile. Given his height and size, Andrews’ 40 time was very impressive, to say the least.
Before the injury in 2023, Andrews had 544 receiving yards, 6 receiving touchdowns, and 45 receptions. He came off the IR and played for the Ravens in AFC Championship game where he caught 2 passes for 15 yards.
