Puka Nacua was born in Provo, Utah, in May 2001. He got the nickname ‘Puka’, meaning fat and chubby, in humor, when he was a baby. Nacua attended Orem High School and finished his career breaking records. He had 58 receiving touchdowns and over 5000 receiving yards in high school. He kicked off his college career in Washington. He suffered a foot injury in his freshman season, losing out on the game time. At the end of the season, he chose to enter the NCAA transfer portal. He took a transfer to BYU for the 2021 season. He averaged almost 10 yards per rush in his college career and was extensively used for running.

Football runs in the Nacua family, he has two brothers who played at BYU. Kai Nacua, his older brother, played safety in the NFL. Nacua lost his father at the age of 11. Los Angeles Rams drafted Nacua in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. The wide receiver ended his first regular season playing in all 17 games and having 1,486 receiving yards. His regular season ended in a fairytale as he broke a few records on the final matchday, one of which was a 63-year-old record for the most receiving yards. He averages around 14 yards per game and is a lethal weapon for the Rams team.
