Quincy Williams is an American football linebacker for the New York Jets in the NFL as of 2024. The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Williams as the 98th overall pick in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He started his professional football career at Wenonah High School in Birmingham, Alabama. In high school, he played under the head coach Ronald Cheatham and earned the Birmingham Athletic Partnership Defensive Player of the Year. Post high school education Williams opted to proceed with his football at Murray State University. In the year 2015, he participated in 11 games and had 31 tackles in the entire season. In the next season, he played in 10 games and made 32 tackles besides which he blocked a kick against the Eastern Kentucky team. Despite Williams’ senior season in 2017 being his best college year as a member of the Alabama team, he made only 57 tackles, ranked fourth in the team, and got his first interception ever.
For the most of his rookie year with the Jacksonville Jaguars, he was active in 11 bouts but was put on the injured reserve list in December and still managed to score 48 tackles in 2019. In 2021, Williams's career took a new turn when he was selected by the Jets. He set historical records alongside his brother Quinnen Williams making them the first in the history of the NFL that two brothers recorded sakes in the same league in the same game upon the inception of this statistical measure in 1982. This was achieved in a match against the Tennessee Titans in which the Williams brothers amassed 19 tackles. Quincy Williams sustained his performance in the Jets and in 2023 he was honored as the American Football Conference Defensive Player of the Month in October of the same year.
