Russell Wilson

One of the National Football League's (NFL) top quarterbacks right now, Russell Wilson, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on November 29, 1988. He spent his formative years in Richmond, Virginia, where he played high school football before enrolling at North Carolina State University and the University of Wisconsin. He started his NFL career as a member of the Seattle Seahawks in 2012, and he presently serves as the quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Wilson has guided the Seahawks to two Super Bowl appearances, winning one in 2013, and has been selected nine times to the Pro Bowl in his career to date. He excelled in football, basketball, and baseball while playing in college, garnering All-ACC and All-Big Ten honors. He was also a three-sport star in high school.

Wilson's past few seasons have seen him struggle quite a bit and it is this factor that has now led to him being released by the Denver Broncos franchise after just two years. Wilson's next destination has now taken him to the city of Pittsburgh where he will battle it out with Justin Fields for the starting role in the 2024 NFL season.

How Many Passing Yards Does Russell Wilson Have?

Wilson has recorded 43,653 passing yards in the regular season and 3,786 passing yards in the post-season as of 2024. In the 2020 season, he recorded his career-best 384 passing yards with the Seahawks, and in 2015, he recorded his career-best post-season 44 passing yards.

What Are Russell Wilson's Average Yards Per Pass

Russell Wilson’s average yards per pass attempt is 7.7 yards throughout his 12-year career in the NFL so far. His best average yards per pass attempt came in the 2015 season which saw him achieve 8.3 yards per pass attempt. Wilson has a lot of game left in his tank and does not seem to be showing any signs of slowing down.

Where Does Russell Rank In Overall Passing Yards

In the 2024 preseason, Russell Wilson ranked 84th in passing yards. Russell Wilson is a quarterback who has played for 12 seasons in the NFL and is not yet among the all-time passing yardage leaders. For him to be in the top 5, Wilson will have to achieve an average of around 3500 passing yards per season for the next five seasons. Given that Russell Wilson is already 35 years old, this seems unlikely. The top five quarterbacks in NFL history in terms of passing yards as of 2024 are:

Tom Brady - 89,214

Drew Brees - 80,358 yards

Peyton Manning - 71,940 yards

Brett Favre - 71,838 yards
