Sean Payton is a professional American football coach for the Denver Broncos as of the 2025 NFL season. Payton’s professional coaching career in the NFL began in 1997 when he was hired as a quarterbacks coach by the Philadelphia Eagles. In 1999, he joined the New York Giants as their quarterbacks coach and was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2000. In 2003, he joined the Dallas Cowboys as their assistant head coach, and he guided three different quarterbacks.

Sean Payton was the head coach of the New Orleans Saints from 2006 to 2011 and again from 2013 to 2021. As head coach, he led the Saints to Super Bowl XLIV, held at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, where they defeated the Indianapolis Colts. In 2023, he became the head coach of the Denver Broncos and has been with the team since.
