"Checked on Marchand's whereabouts?" "Bruins playing dirty" - NHL fans react as fire alarm goes off at Panthers' team hotel ahead of Bruins game

Boston Bruins v Florida Panthers - Game Five
Florida Panthers' pre-game routine disrupted by hotel fire alarm ahead of game against Boston Bruins

The Florida Panthers are set to face the Boston Bruins in Game 6 at 7 p.m. ET on Friday. The pre-game preparations for the Florida Panthers took an unexpected turn when a fire alarm went off at their team hotel in Boston.

Brendan Burke, an NHL insider, shared the news on X (formerly Twitter). He noted the incident occurred during peak pre-game nap time.

The unexpected alarm drew various reactions from NHL fans on X.

"Bruins playing dirty," a fan tweeted.
"Has anyone checked on Marchand's whereabouts?" Another fan commented.

Other fans found the timing of the alarm suspicious.

"So odd this always happens in Boston," a fan commented.

Another fan recalled a similar incident.

"Interesting. When the Islanders were in Toronto for Game 7 of their 2002 playoff series there was no hot water in any of the rooms of our entire traveling contingent the morning of the game. Simply a coincidence I’m sure. These things happen," a fan commented.
"That means a wake-up call for Florida," one fan tweeted.
"I'm shocked these playoffs need an explosive Game 7 and these two would certainly have an excellent chance to provide that," another fan added.

The fans eagerly anticipate how it might impact the Panthers' performance against the Bruins.

Bruins' Brad Marchand a game-time decision for Game 6 against Panthers

Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand is a game-time decision for Game 6 of the Eastern Conference second-round series against the Florida Panthers, as announced by coach Jim Montgomery.

"He's going through his final steps. He'll be a game-time decision," Montgomery said (h/t ABC News).

Marchand missed Boston's last two games due to an upper-body injury sustained from a hit by Florida's Sam Bennett in Game 3. The Bruins currently trail 3-2 in the best-of-seven series. Marchand has been productive in the playoffs, recording three goals and seven assists in 10 games.

Brad Marchand discusses physicality in playoffs

Despite the incident, Marchand holds no grudges against Sam Bennett and acknowledges that physicality is part of postseason play.

“I think he [Bennett] got away with a shot. But I’m not gonna complain. Shit happens. I’ve been on the other side of plays. Part of the game, part of playoff hockey. Sucks to be on the other side of it, but it happens. He got away with one, but it happens,” Marchand said (via Ty Anderson on X).

Marchand also shared the importance of physicality in the playoffs, suggesting that smaller, skilled teams often struggle to advance due to injuries.

"Every time you step on the ice, someone tries to hurt someone. That's just how it goes in the playoffs. That's part of the benefit of having a physical group. That's why you rarely see small and skilled teams go far. Because they get hurt," Marchand said.

Bennett didn't receive a penalty or supplemental discipline for the hit.
