Opinion: Sting might be about to make his final appearance outside the U.S

The final curtain?

'The Icon' Sting is one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all-time.

Sting was the WCW captain to go down with the WCW ship. He was the one that always got away from WWE, and until his debut at the 2014 Survivor Series, he was the greatest superstar ever to have never appeared on WWE TV. After an amazing career in WCW and TNA Impact Wrestling, Sting wrestled four matches in WWE before a neck injury forced him to call it quits.

Sting has had one of the most decorated careers in the history of the business, becoming a 6-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, 2 time NWA World Champion, 4 time TNA World Champion, and more than a dozen reigns throughout WCW and TNA as a United States Champion and Tag Team Champion.

Ever since his departure from Impact Wrestling in early 2014, the Stinger has been making frequent appearances on the convention circuit throughout the world, at various Comic Cons and wrestling conventions. However, sources close to the situation have now revealed that an upcoming convention appearance Sting will be making in the UK, may potentially be his last appearance at a convention outside of the U.S.A.

Sting is currently scheduled to a guest at the Monopoly Events Liverpool Comic Con on March 8th - 10th, and rumor has it along the UK convention circuit that this could be the final appearance for him in this capacity in England. So if you have always wanted to meet The Icon, this could potentially be your last chance.

Sting will be coming to the event in March in full Crow face paint, making it a must not miss a photo opportunity. Sting will be available for the low price of £40.00 per photo and £40.00 per autograph. Sting will also be participating in a live-on-stage Q & A, where he will take in any questions about his historic career. So it remains to be seen if this really will be Sting's final appearance outside of the U.S, but American fans shouldn't worry yet as he does still plan on making more convention appearances throughout the States for the time being, at least.

It was a truly sad moment at the 2016 WWE Hall of Fame when Sting announced his retirement from in-ring competition. While true that we could have likely never seen The Icon raise the WWE Championship, for his age of 56 at the time of his retirement, he was still capable of putting on one hell of a match, as witness in his solid collisions with Triple H at WrestleMania 31 and Seth Rollins at Night of Champions 2015.

In my opinion, Sting vs. The Undertaker will always be the ultimate Dream Match and the match that got away. I will never understand why WWE chose not to book Sting vs. The Undertaker at WrestleMania 31, and unfortunately we will just always have to wonder what would have happened if the ultimate WCW Icon met the ultimate WWE Icon.

Sting has left an unforgettable mark in the wrestling business and there will never be another like him. We can only hope to continue to see him in some capacity in the years to come.
