WWE News: Candice LeRae has officially signed with WWE

What’s the story?

Following the signing of Ricochet and tag team War Machine earlier today, WWE has now confirmed the signing of Candice LeRae.

In case you didn’t know…

While LeRae is regarded as one of the best female wrestlers on the independent scene, she’s also no stranger to the WWE Universe.

Candice LeRae made it to the Quarterfinal Round in the inaugural Mae Young Classic last year. You can see her first round match with Renee Michelle below.

The heart of the matter

Now, WWE normally picks up some promising stars from the independent scene at the beginning of the year, but they've really outdone themselves today.

Candice LeRae is no stranger to some already hugely popular WWE Superstars, she is married to current NXT Superstar Johnny Gargano.

The Mae Young Classic Quarter Finalist has previously wrestled against two former WWE United States Champions in Kevin Owens and Cesaro - possibly surprising when you take into account the fact that she stands at just 5'2", however after seeing one of LeRae's matches, you can see just how tenacious and skilled she is.

LeRae is perhaps more well known for her recent stint alongside Joey Ryan as half of The World's Cutest Tag Team, but she comes to WWE with over 15 years' experience.

Candice LeRae also joins WWE having already competed for an NXT Women's Championship opportunity when she took part in an over-the-top-rope Battle Royal last October.

What’s next?

Well, this is just the beginning for LeRae. She will be training at the Performance Center ahead of her debut as an official WWE Superstar but, with her experience, we can't imagine we'll have to wait too long before we see her in the ring.

Author’s take

Well, things certainly are hotting up in WWE. Three incredible announcements today that will no doubt excite the WWE Universe! Three very different additions and the first new female signing of 2018 is an outstanding one.

It'll be interesting to see where Candice LeRae falls when she gets put in-ring. There's no doubt she's a ready-made Superstar who could easily debut on RAW or SmackDown straightaway, but you'd have to think she may head to NXT -- but she may go straight into the title picture if so.

Either way, this is all very exciting -- and who knows when the next signing announcement will come!
