WWE News: Randy Orton chooses Shawn Michaels, Rey Mysterio and Triple H as his top three pro-wrestlers
The Viper says it would be a lot easier to pick 15 great wrestlers.
While speaking to Sports Illustrated, Randy Orton revealed his pick for the top three wrestlers of all times. The Viper listed Shawn Michaels, Rey Mysterio and Triple H, as his best three, despite noting that it was a ‘tough’ call for him to make. Here’s what Orton had to say:
It’s a hard one but I’ll go with, Shawn Michaels, Rey Mysterio, and s**t, I’ve got to throw Triple H in there. I hate to do it, but I’ve got to. I’ve never been in there with a better ring general than him. When it comes to understanding psychology and having an answer to a question that you feel like there’s no answer to, there is no one better in the business.
Orton later mentioned that it would be easier for him to pick a top-15 list, as there are so many athletes who deserve that mantle. He further went on to list Edge, Christian, Chris Jericho and Undertaker, as wrestlers who are at the very top but in the end settled for Shawn Michaels, Rey Mysterio and Triple H, as his top three.
The Apex Predator’s picking The Game is self-explanatory because of the role Triple H played in kick-starting his career in pro wrestling with Evolution. Hunter and Orton have also had some of the most intriguing feuds of the modern era. Therefore, Randy Orton has a first-hand knowledge of the prowess of Triple H, both in and out of the squared circle.
The addition of Shawn Michaels in Orton’s list cannot be argued, as the Heart Break Kid is widely regarded as one of the best professional wrestlers of all times.
The master of 619 was a surprise pick here. Although Rey Mysterio is a pioneer of the high flying style of wrestling, his contributions within the confinements of WWE, are often undermined. The California native acted as a gateway for Cruiserweights in the WWE, in a promotion which was predominantly infested with larger performers.
While Mysterio’s inclusion is well justified, it is certainly not the first name you would think that Orton would pick, considering the plethora of wrestlers, he has faced in the past.
