What’s the story?

After being pulled from his upcoming match against The Undertaker in Saudi Arabia, former WWE United States Champion Rusev, has apparently removed all WWE references from his official Twitter handle.

In case you didn’t know…

Rusev made his WWE debut in 2010 under the company’s FCW developmental brand. Following his eventual promotion to the main roster in 2014, Rusev has gone on to become one of the most dominant Superstars on the WWE roster.

He has defeated the likes of The Big Show, Mark Henry, Big E, and even John Cena as 'The Bulgarian Brute' went on to build a dominant undefeated streak.

Rusev is also the first ever Bulgarian-born champion in WWE history when he won the United States Championship from Sheamus in 2014 itself. However, in late 2017, Rusev came up with the concept of ‘Rusev Day’ which eventually led to him becoming one of WWE's most popular wrestlers despite portraying a heel character.

The heart of the matter

On Wednesday, it was announced by the WWE that former two-time United States Champion Rusev would originally compete in a Casket Match against The Undertaker at WWE’s upcoming Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia.

However, as noted, TMZ Sports ran an interview with both Rusev and his wife Lana earlier, that very same day, in order to get their thoughts regarding the match against The Undertaker. Following the interaction between the two parties, WWE would eventually went on to scrap the match between Rusev and 'The Phenom' and instead, booked a match between Chris Jericho and The Undertaker.

Shortly afterward, Rusev would take it to his official Twitter handle and remove all references of WWE from his account and went on to tweet the following:

What’s next?

WWE’s Greatest Royal Rumble event will take place on the 27th of April in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. As of right now, several matches have already been confirmed for the show including a total of seven title matches.
