What’s the story?

In a recent interview with CBR.com, RAW superstar Samoa Joe spoke about his experience on the WWE main roster so far and talked about his first full year on the Monday Night Raw brand.

In case you didn’t know…

Samoa Joe made his main roster debut in January of 2017 as part of the RAW brand, attacking Seth Rollins from behind and aligning himself with ‘The Game’ Triple H in the process. For his first match on the main roster, Joe scored an upset pinfall victory over former WWE Champion Roman Reigns, after Reigns was distracted by Braun Strowman.

Following his main roster debut, Joe has been involved in some top quality matches on RAW against the likes of Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt, and more. However, the former NXT Champion is currently sidelined due to a foot injury that he suffered recently in a match against Rhyno.

The heart of the matter

According to Samoa Joe, his first year on the WWE main roster has been absolutely fantastic and has been filled with lots of highs and milestones. Joe stated that being a part of the Monday Night RAW and WWE crew, he now appreciates the wrestling business more than he would have [earlier], only because he has already experienced every other scenario outside of WWE.

Additionally, Joe also said that at this point of his career wrestling is very enjoyable and he remains completely confident of his own in-ring capabilities and what he has to offer to the WWE Universe.

“I'm confident in what I can do, I'm confident in what I have to offer, and WWE has been very confident in letting me do what I do. It's a very fun, mutual relationship that we have going so far."- Samoa Joe stated.

What’s next?

After suffering his latest foot injury, Samoa Joe is now set to miss this year’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view and the WWE Universe is still not sure when they will get to see the return of the former Ring of Honor World Champion.

Author’s take

Samoa Joe’s debut year on the main roster has been filled with ups and downs, however, a superstar of Joe’s calibre should’ve been awarded a championship by now.
