WWE News: Stephanie McMahon discusses the possibility of returning to in-ring competition

Wouldn’t you love to see Steph finally get some comeuppance for her actions?

What’s the story?

While on WWE’s tour of the U.K., Stephanie McMahon spoke to national newspaper The Mirror, about the possibility of her ever performing in an in-ring capacity again.

The Background

Stephanie has wrestled a number of matches in WWE over the duration of her career and is a former Women’s Champion.

Her last in-ring performance came at 2014’s Summerslam event in a match against Brie Bella, for which Stephanie received favourable reviews. Although she has been involved physically in other matches, most recently in her husband Triple H’s WrestleMania 33 bout against Seth Rollins, which saw her take a bump through a table.

The current commissioner of Monday Night Raw has not been seen since this incident but has not ruled out stepping into the ring again in the future.

The heart of the matter

During her interview with The Mirror, Stephanie was asked if she had any desire to return to the ring and her response certainly left the door open for that possibility.

“I absolutely love the in-ring performance aspect to what we do. It's such an honour to be able to get in there with some of those performers and actually take bumps or tell a story of the match. I'm not necessarily the best but I do love to get in there, so if there's ever an opportunity again to do that and to help make somebody else then I would absolutely welcome it.”

What’s next?

Stephanie has often teased feuds with some of WWE’s current female performers, most notably with the likes of Sasha Banks and Bayley, but none of these matches has ever come to fruition.

It is still not certain when Stephanie will resume her on-screen commissioner role, so any possible match for her in the near future seems unlikely.

Author’s Take

Personally, I would love to see Stephanie wrestle another match in WWE, if for no other reason than to see her get some well-deserved comeuppance for her constant belittling of talent.

But on top of this, she has been a proven draw over the years and any bout involving ‘The Billion Dollar Princess’ will be worthy of a spot on the card at any of WWE’s biggest events, whether it be at a Summerslam or WrestleMania.
