WWE Video: Remembering when Brock Lesnar worked as a security guard

Lesnar’s promotional campaign was prior to the Summerslam weekend

What’s the story?

While Brock Lesnar was at ESPN Headquarters to appear on SportsCenter last year, the former UFC Heavyweight and WWE Champion filmed a few hidden camera videos where he pretended to work as ESPN security. We look back at when Brock Lesnar masqueraded as an ESPN security guard last year.

In case you didn’t know...

While promoting his UFC return fight at UFC 200 against Mark Hunt last year, Brock Lesnar took part in a skit, where he worked at ESPN Headquarters in the cafeteria.

The skit was very popular, so ESPN followed up by having Brock Lesnar back again to promote SummerSlam, and this time they had him appear in this memorable video, where he worked as an ESPN security guard.

The heart of the matter

The video was released by ESPN, which shows Lesnar working a toll booth, and then searching people’s vehicles while working on the ESPN lot.

It occurred over Summerslam weekend, and Brock's visit was a part of the promotional campaign for the big event. Just imagine if you pulled up to the security check at work and the guard who was to check your car was Brock Lesnar? As it turns out, very few people actually recognised Brock, but even so, there were some reactions that were priceless.

What’s next?

Brock Lesnar is currently the WWE Universal Champion, but has not been seen since the Raw after WrestleMania 33. Brock is set to return to WWE television at some point in June to promote the WWE’s “Great Balls of Fire” PPV, where he is set to headline against Braun Strowman in a WWE Universal Title match.

Author’s Take

It’s interesting to see Brock display such a great personality in this video. Many assume that Brock is paired with Heyman due to a lack of personality, but there is a difference between personality and mic skills.

We often see Brock Lesnar do a great job in WWE promo videos when promoting his matches. In addition to that, Brock didn’t rely on Heyman to sell his UFC fights and he is one of the biggest UFC draws of all-time. People shouldn’t see Heyman’s addition to Lesnar’s act as Lesnar being a wooden performer.
