NBA analyst insinuates LA Lakers winning is "pissing off" the front office because of their refusal to go all-in: "It's making them look worse"

After a rough start to the season, things are starting to look up for the LA Lakers. Despite not having Anthony Davis in the mix, the team continues to find a way to win games.

Thanks to an impressive run from LeBron James and members of the supporting cast, the LA Lakers are knocking on the door of the postseason. They currently sit just a half-game out of the final spot in the play-in tournament.

While many are excited to see the Lakers turn things around, one group that isn't happy is the front office. With this recent success comes expectations to get something done before the February 9th trade deadline.

During a recent interview with Anthony Irwin, Sports Illustrated's Howard Beck opened up on the dilemma for LA. He says the front office isn't pleased with their recent stretch because it's making them look bad.

"The front office has been so resistant to making an investment in this team, in this season, that winning, probably, is pissing them off because it’s making them look worse.”

The Lakers have been in numerous trade rumors this season, but they've continued to show an unwillingness to part with their 2027 and 2029 draft picks.

Should the LA Lakers feel more inclined to make a trade now?

While most might argue that their recent win streak changed things, the LA Lakers should feel at a crossroads right now. Even with a playoff appearance in reach, there are other factors deterring them from making a move in the coming weeks.

The biggest piece in all of this is Anthony Davis. If his health remains questionable, it makes little sense for the front office to go out and make an aggressive move in the trade market. LA wants to be in the mix for a title, and they will need both their stars on the court to do so.

LeBron James is in the midst of an incredible season, but he can only do so much. Plus, the team is forced to rely on him in a big way now as the lone star on the court. There is no telling what shape the 38-year-old will be in if this workload keeps up.

Between the resurgance of Russell Westbrook and other players on the roster stepping up, the Lakers might be forced to roll the dice. If they can make upgrades and get a healthy Anthony Davis back, they might be able to make some noise in the Western Conference.
