Report: Ben Simmons’ return to Philadelphia will be assisted with increased security in & out of the arena

After an ugly ending over a year ago, Ben Simmons returned to play his first game against the Philadelphia 76ers in Philadelphia on Tuesday night. The end of the relationship saw coaches, teammates and the media bashing Simmons for his play.

Ben Simmons has been in Philadelphia since the breakup, but this is his first time playing in a game. Philadelphia fans have been known to do questionable things in the past, leading to the arena having more security inside and outside of the arena.

Stephanie Ready said before the game on TNT that the police will be on the lookout Tuesday night:

"I was told that they have ensured the Nets, the 76ers have, that they are prepared for anything to happen tonight. And that I was also told by a source in the building here that said there will indeed be an increased police presence both inside and outside of the building tonight just as precaution."

Having an increased police presence is always a good idea if they're suspecting that anything can happen. Fans of any sports team sometimes make poor decisions, and the NBA has to make sure that its players are protected.

Ben Simmons and the Brooklyn Nets have an easier task on hand than they imagined when they saw the game schedule. Philadelphia is without its top three players: Joel Embiid, James Harden and Tyrese Maxey.

Still, Brooklyn (8-9), in 10th place in the Eastern Conference, needs to take care of business in games like this as they try to turn around a woeful start.

Ben Simmons has started to play better and will look to continue that on Tuesday night. Sixers fans will have the place loud and filled with boos, so he better come out with his best stuff.
