NBA Team Values 2022: $7B Worth Golden State Warriors top the Forbes list

As the NBA continues to grow in popularity, so does the value of its franchises. Part of why players' salaries constantly reach record-breaking numbers is because the league has become big business worldwide.

As the 2022-23 season got off the ground, the people over at Forbes provided updated rankings of the most valuable NBA teams right now. Here is a breakdown of the top five.

5) Boston Celtics

Rounding out the top five are reigning Eastern Conference champions, the Boston Celtics. They currently sit at a price tag of $4 billion.

Given that they are one of the most historic franchises in the league, it's not shocking to see the Celtics make this list. Between their past success and their potential to add more titles in the near future, it wouldn't be shocking if they managed to sneak up a spot or two by this time next year.

4) Chicago Bulls

Another franchise with a famous past is the Chicago Bulls. They managed to just barely beat out the Celtics with a value of roughly $4.1 billion.

Even though Chicago isn't the biggest NBA market, they managed to fall just outside the top three. Despite Michael Jordan's days being long gone, the city remains loyal to the Bulls.

3) LA Lakers

While this might seem shocking to some, the LA Lakers come in at No. 3 with a value of $5.9 billion. Between being another historic franchise and being in the biggest market in the country, it's shocking not to see them in the top spot.

Similar to the Celtics, the Lakers are a team that can do some climbing on this list. As long as LeBron James is in town, the chance to bring in more revenue is always possible.

2) New York Knicks

While the Knicks have had their struggles over the past decade, they will always be one of the most valuable NBA franchises. Currently, Forbes lists them with a value of $6.1 billion.

What carries the Knicks is their market and venue. Similar to LA, New York is one of the biggest markets in the country. On top of that, the Knicks arena is one of the most famous venues ever in Madison Square Garden.

Between the history of the franchise and their arena, it's unlikely they will ever fall out of the the top three of these lists.

1) The NBA's most valuable franchise, the Golden State Warriors

Shocking to nobody, coming in at the top spot is the 2022 NBA champion Golden State Warriors. As the league's most recent dynasty, they've propelled themselves to the top of the list.

Along with the success they've had for the better part of a decade, what puts the Warriors over the top is their brand new stadium, the Chase Center. Moving from Oakland to San Francisco should cement them into this top spot for the foreseeable future.
