The last two days of the ongoing Boxing Day Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) are interestingly poised after Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane launched a spectacular counter-attack on the Australians, putting together a mammoth 262-run stand for the fourth wicket to take India to 462-8 at the end of Day 3 in response to Australia’s first innings score of 530.

1 – The Kohli-Rahane partnership is the first ever double century stand by a visiting pair at the MCG, which is in about 90 years.

3 – Kohli is the first No.4 to hit 3 centuries in the same Test series in Australia.

56 – Kohli has taken only 56 innings to score his 9 Test centuries, one less than Sachin Tendulkar.

3 – Kohli is only the second Indian to hit three centuries in the same Test series in Australia after the great Sunil Gavaskar did it in 1977/78.
