Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are up against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in match 46 of IPL 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, April 28. The CSK vs SRH clash is the second match of a double-header.

Chennai and Hyderabad met in the first half of IPL 2024 on April 5 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. SRH won by six wickets. Batting first, Chennai Super Kings were held to 165-5. Hyderabad chased down the target with ease in 18.1 overs.

If we look at current form, CSK have slipped to sixth place in the IPL 2024 points table after consecutive losses to Lucknow Super Giants. They went down to LSG by eight wickets in Lucknow and by six wickets in Chennai.

Hyderabad, meanwhile, are third in the points table. In their last IPL 2024 match, SRH went down to Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 35 runs at home. Batting first, RCB posted 206-7 before restricting Hyderabad to 171-8.

SRH have won the toss and have opted to field first. Captain Pat Cummins said:

“We will bowl (first). Maybe dew is going play a factor.”

Hyderabad are going in with an extra batter, so Mayank Markande misses out.

According to Samuel Badree, the surface looks very dry. There's a mosaic underlay. There isn’t that sheen that you have come to expect in this year’s IPL, he added.

The surface is the same one that was used in the game against GT where CSK scored over 200 runs. Badree feels there will be assistance for spinners and those who can bowl slower balls but concluded that runs can be scored here.
