The Sri Lankan batsman who scored just one run in his first six test innings

Marvan Attapattu was the front-line Sri Lankan batsman who scored just 1 run in his first 6 Test innings. He was out on duck (zero) on his career’s first 3 test matches against India. He scored 1 run in his 4th test match against Australia and was again out on zero on 5th and 6th matches.

Always a vulnerable starter, Atapattu showed immense strength of character once he got his eye in. After a wretched start to his test career, he went on to become one of the most consistent performers for Sri Lanka. He went on to score six double-hundreds in his career, a feat bettered only by Don Bradman (12), Wally Hammond and Brian Lara (seven each).

He retired after playing 90 test matches for Sri Lanka and scored 5502 runs with 16 test hundreds to his credit.
