Mercedes boss Ross Brawn has said that the Formula Ones’ works teams will be aided with an engine advantage in the turbo V6 era.

The new rule restrict the manufacturers to supply more than a single specification despite a string of Formula One constructors including Mercedes and Ferrari having other customer teams.

“We will work together as one team at Brackley and Brixworth to get the best result from the complete car. Engine and chassis, so that will mean the customer teams will have to make the most of engines that are tailored to the rival cars of the works teams,” he said.

“We will help our customers as far as we can, in terms of information. But if I’m honest, they won’t have a big say. We have developed a solution for us, so the others will have to adapt,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mercedes customer Williams’s technical head Pat Symonds added that the team will have to go with the same engine of its parent team.

“In practice, we will have to go with the Mercedes package as it is delivered,” he said.
