Rumour: French wonderkid being chased by Arsenal and Chelsea

Benifica's Ezequiel Garay challenges Paris Saint-Germain's Adrien Rabiot during their Champions League soccer match in Paris

Arsenal and Chelsea were set to fight it out for highly-rated teenager Adrein Rabiot, who currently is on the books of Paris St Germain, The Metroreport.

Rabiot has impressed since breaking into the first team at PSG, but with his contract due to expire next summer, he could be primed for a move away from France, with the London duo set to pounce.

Rabiot is understood to be concerned about his long-term prospects at Parc de Princes, with PSG already boasting an influx of foreign stars and planning yet more high-priced moves in the summer.

The 18-year-old has managed to make 17 appearances this season, but with most of those coming from the bench, Rabiot is keen to explore his options in order to ensure regular first team football, before he commits to a new deal with the French league leaders.

Rabiot is facing a lengthy spell out of the team after injuring knee ligaments in PSG’s victory over Bordeaux on Tuesday, so any deal will not be pursued until the summer, with worries over how he will return, with knee injuries on youngsters often proving difficult to predict.

It is expected that both clubs will continue to monitor him, but any plans for a January move have been shelved for the time being.

PSG are keen to tie him down to a new deal, but with the Premier League duo prepared to try and tempt him and his contract due to expire within the next 18 months, they could be forced into considering a sale to avoid losing him for nothing.

Rabiot has sown great composure for someone so young, having completed 91% of his passes, while he has also been successful in 76% of his tackles for the Parisian outfit.
