Bayern Munich cool down David Luiz talks

David Luiz to Bayern Munich is a no-go

Champions League winners Bayern Munich have dismissed reports of the club being interested in signing David Luiz. The Chelsea centre-back was rumoured to have attracted interest from the German club’s new manager, Pep Guardiola.

Bayern had some concerns with their defence as first choice centre back Holger Badstuber remains doubtful for next season with a injured right knee that will need a fourth operation. Badstuber was out with a ligament injury that occurred last December and managed to play just 18 games in the 2012-13 season. However, Bayern have signed Germany Under-21 international defender Jan Kirchhoff from Mainz for free.

Club director Matthias Samme looks to be in no mood to invest in another centre-back and quashed any links with David Luiz.

“We are not going to sign a new defender since we have already signed a defender this summer in Jan Kirchhoff.

“The decision not to sign a further defender is clearly to be seen as giving a fair chance to Jan.” said Samme while speaking to kicker-Sportmagazin.
