Blow for Manchester City as Isco decides to move to Real Madrid

Malaga CF v FC Porto - UEFA Champions League Round of 16

Isco to snub Manchester City: Isco has reportedly set his eyes on joining Real Madrid

Manuel Pellegrini suffered a blow on his first day at the club as his primary target Francisco Román Alarcón Suárez, commonly known as Isco, opted to choose Real Madrid over Manchester City. Though, the transfer to Real Madrid hasn’t been finalised yet, Real Madrid president Fiorentina Perez publicly stated that the Spanish U21 star wanted to be a Real Madrid player.

Despite the blow, the Etihad’s new Chilean chief wasted no time in tabling a bid for the club’s long-standing interest in Napoli’s £54million striker Edinson Cavani. City have already signed two of Pellegrini’s summer targets in Fernandinho and Jesus Navas in a £45m spending spree.

Pellegrini, who officially started work at City yesterday, was keen to boost his midfield even further by bringing in the Spanish sensation Isco, who he himself saw flourishing at Malaga last season.

Isco, whose outstanding performances in Spain’s Euro Under-21 triumph caught many eyes, preferred the Bernabeu outfit over a possible reunion with his former boss at City. And the 21-year-old whizkid has told Pellegrini — who he describes as his ‘footballing father’ — he could not resist a move to the Bernabeu.
