Over the last few weeks, Chelsea have been chasing Edinson Cavani. He had a great season and with that comes a big price tag. However it looks like the talk of Cavani joining Chelsea could be over with rumours circulating of him signing a new contract. A rumour that Napoli and Cavani agreed a new contract with a whopping €55m release clause.
This has yet to be confirmed but if it is true, I think it ends Chelsea’s interest in the striker.

Cavani never really wanted to leave and his agent has managed to get him a better contract. The release clause makes any move for Cavani very unlikely due to the asking price. It looks like Chelsea will have to look elsewhere if they are to bring in a striker.
