Cesc Fabregas has spoken of his move to Chelsea, telling his official Facebook page that he believes that Chelsea is the best choice for his career from the options that he had. While he also confirmed Arsenal had the chance to sign him.

The Barcelona midfielder believes that he has unfinished business in the Premier League and that it is the right time for him to return. The 27 year old central midfield player left the Premier League to move from Arsenal to Barcelona in 2011, but is to return in a deal worth a reported £25 million.

Fabregas, who is likely to partner Nemanja Matic at the heart of the Chelsea midfield, praised his new teammates and manager, describing the Blues squad as “amazing.”

The former Barcelona midfielder sparked a transfer frenzy earlier this month when he revealed that he was leaving Spain, with Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and former club Arsenal all linked with moves for him.

Many believed that the Spain international would one day return to Arsenal, but the Gunners rejected the chance to re-sign their former captain, leaving him for their London rivals Chelsea. Fabregas insisted that he wishes his old club well, saying that a move “wasn’t meant to be.”

“Firstly I would like to thank everyone at FC Barcelona where I enjoyed 3 wonderful years,” read the statement on his Facebook page.

“It was my childhood club and I will always be proud and honoured that I had a chance to play for such a great team.”

Continuing on the subject of Arsenal he said: “I do feel that I have unfinished business in the Premier League and now is the right time for me to return. Yes, everyone knows that Arsenal had the first option to sign me. They decided not to take this option and therefore it wasn’t meant to be. I wish them well in the future.”

“I considered all the other offers very carefully and I firmly believe that Chelsea is the best choice. They match my footballing ambitions with their hunger and desire to win trophies. They have an amazing squad of players and an incredible manager. I am fully committed to this team and I can’t wait to start playing.”

“It was extremely important to me that this transfer was completed before the World Cup so that my mind will only be focused on hopefully helping my country try to retain the trophy.”

Cesc Fabregas completed 87% of his passes.
