Its been 56 days since Rafael Benitez took charge at Chelsea, and Malouda says he still has not met the new manager.

Florent Malouda, who joined Chelsea in 2007, played a very crucial role in the club’s Champions League win. Though he was not part the squad that actually played the final, he was probably one of the most important players that helped the team to reach the final. After which, the club was ready to let go of the Frenchman last summer. But Malouda said that he was happy to see out his £100,000-a-week contract at the club, as transfer deals failed to materialize.

The French winger has played 149 times for the club and scored 35 goals. He was kept away from the first squad, since the arrival of Roberto Di Matteo, and this has not changed with Benitez’s reign either.

Brazilian club, Santos, had offered to sign the Chelsea winger, but Malouda rejected all the offers made by them, although Chelsea were ready to see their player go for free. The Brazilian side, though, were not able to cover the Frenchman’s wages even though Chelsea were ready for a reduced price to free up funds. Santos eventually gave up and Malouda was assigned to the club’s U-21 side. Chelsea, who are ready for a cut price deal or even a free transfer, have not got any offers this transfer window for Malouda.
