I have a verbal agreement with City: Pellegrini

Malaga CF v Borussia Dortmund - UEFA Champions League Quarter Final

Earlier in May, Roberto Mancini was relieved of his duties with Manchester City. Concurrently, Manuel Pellegrini is set to leave his current club Malaga CF immediately after this weekend’s final round of La Liga fixtures. And Manuel has been regarded as the ideal candidate to succeed the Italian and take charge at the Etihad Stadium. Pellegrini has previously led Malaga to their highest-ever league finish, finishing in fourth spot last season.

It is no surprise that the Chilean has a number of clubs like Roma, Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain interested in acquiring his services. But his heart was mostly set on the City, which he generally describes as “one among a number of very good options”.

Now it looks like he has considered the City as the best option, as he has gone on record to reveal that he has had a verbal agreement with Manchester City to become their next manager.

“I have a verbal agreement with them and I hope it is carried out,” he said in an interview with the Canal Sur television station on Wednesday. “As of today, I don’t have a signed contract. It is true that Manchester City have shown a lot of interest that I become their coach and I have had conversations with them.”

However, he also added with a hint of caution, “Until things have been signed, you cannot say everything is completely done.”
