Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has stated that he rejected the advances of Chelsea and Manchester City last year, The Mirror reports.

During an interview with The Sun Klopp stated that Dortmund was the “most exciting project in European football” and that was the reason he refused to managed Chelsea or Manchester City.

“There were some England clubs that called and wanted to speak with me,” he said. “But there was no reason to talk.

“I’m sure you could earn much more money at an English club, or at a Chinese or Russian club. But it’s not the most important thing.

“In life you have to be at the right place at the right moment. I am in Dortmund with all I have. Definitely for the next couple of years.”

Klopp, 46, is credited with turning Dortmund to legitimate title contenders. Under his leadership, Dortmund won the title for two consecutive season in 2011 and 2012 and he was declared the German Football Manager of the Year twice during the same time period.
