Lead is not enough , says Drogba

Chelsea who are the table toppers at the end of 2014 are the favourites to be the champions at the end of the season. With the streak they are having it is clear that they are the best team in the league with 46 points from 19 games . Chelsea are 3 points above the current Champions Man City who have 43 points from same number of games.

The last game in 2014 ended in a draw for both the teams as Chelsea drew with Southampton and Man City drew with Burnley. If any team had won the match, that would have made an impact in the league table.Chelsea visit Spurs on New Year day as City hosts Sunderland. It will be a tough fight for the title if any of the team drops points.

"I think it's going to be tough," Drogba said, reflecting on how Chelsea's one-time eight-point lead has been whittled down.

"We knew it was not over. A few years ago, I think we were 11 or 12 points in front of Man United and then they won the league," Drogba said.

"So eight points or nine points — I don't know how many points we had on top of Man City — I think it is not enough.

"I think now we start again a new championship. I think the game is on." he said.

Chelsea will have fierce competiton from Man City as they are just below Chelsea in the table. But the new team who is in the race are Manchester United. If United are to push hard in the title race, they hav to continue their current form which is difficult for a team who are having frequent injuries.

With both Manchester teams below Chelsea, it will not be an easy second half of Premier League season . As Drogba said, it is going to be very tough and they will need to work hard if the London club have to be champions.

Chelsea last won the Premier League in 2009/10 season after which Manchester teams have won the title twice each. It will be an entertaining season ahead with teams going head to head for the title race in the best league in the world.
