In a bid to not let Liverpool’s first real title challenge in five years fizzle out, manager Brendan Rodgers is believed to be looking at pulling off a double scoop for left-back Alberto Moreno and playmaker Ivan Rakitic from Spanish side Sevilla for £35 million according to Sports Direct News.

Liverpool are desperately looking to bring in a quality left-back after their first-choice LB Jose Enrique has been sidelined since October due to a knee surgery. With Enrique not expected to return until the end of January and his replacement Aly Cissokho not really impressing in the chances that he has got, Liverpool are in the market for a LB and Moreno looks to be their first choice after the 21-year old has impressed in his recent outings for Sevilla. The Spaniard is rumoured to be available for around £20 million.

Liverpool are also looking to bring in Ivan Rakitic, who is fast emerging as one of the finest playmakers in La Liga and Europe after he had a great 2012-13 season with Sevilla scoring 11 goals and getting 10 assists to go with that. The Croatian international, who has nine goals and six assists so far this season in all competitions for Sevilla, will be a very good addition to a Liverpool side looking to take the pressure off of Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho to do a bulk of the playmaking.

Liverpool though might have to face competition from the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea to secure the signatures of both the players.
