LONDON (AFP) –

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero (right) injured his right knee in the opening league fixture against Southampton on August 19. Aguero believes Manchester City have a bright future ahead of them despite their last-gasp defeat to Real Madrid in their Champions League opener.

Manchester City have a bright future ahead of them despite their last-gasp defeat to Real Madrid in their Champions League opener, Sergio Aguero believes.

City’s second campaign in Europe’s elite competition got off to a dramatic but fruitless start when Cristiano Ronaldo‘s winner sent them crashing to a 3-2 defeat in the Spanish capital on Tuesday.

Argentinian striker Aguero, who was linked a move to Real last season, had to settle for a place on the bench for the match but he is sure that City will bounce back.

He tweeted after the game: “I feel comfortable and appreciated in @MCFC – it’s a project I feel involved in. We want more titles and we’ll get them!”

The former Atletico Madrid player added that going to Manchester City was “the best decision I could have taken”.

Aguero, 24, scored 30 goals for City last season after joining the Premier League champions in a club record £38million deal.

His 2012-2013 season got off to a bad start when he suffered a knee injury in the opening fixture against Southampton last month and he had hoped to make his return in Madrid but will have to wait for his chance.
