Manchester United and Liverpool battle for lethal La Liga attacker

Iborra, Rusescu and Rakitic of Sevilla celebrate Rusescu's goal against Freiburg during their Europa League soccer match in Freiburg

Manchester United and Liverpool transfer target Ivan Rakitic has admittedthat he is feeling increasingly unhappy with life in La Liga, putting the champions of England on alert as the January transfer window approaches, report The Daily Mirror.

The Croatian has been the outstanding player for Sevilla this season and has therefore been linked with a move away from the Spaniards, who have recently lost Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo to the Premier League.

United have been touted as a possible destination for the playmaker should he want to leave Seville.

“A football player can never say with certainty that he will remain in his club,” he told Slovenian website Nogomania.

“Such is the nature of our business. I’m in Seville for three years now and in this time many things have changed.

“It is clear that in such a big club people can not be satisfied with average results.

“If there is no success, if there are no trophies, frustration grows. Everything has changed.”

Rakitic, who has seven goals to his name this term, has said that he will continue giving everything to his current club.

“I can assure you that I’m one hundred percent focused on Sevilla and I only think about our next match.”
