"I haven’t had any conversations" - Arsenal star makes honest admission on future amid rumors of transfer

Jorginho provides update on future at Arsenal

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho insists that he is happy at the Emirates amid rumors of a potential exit from the club.

The Gunners secured Jorginho's services from Chelsea in the January transfer window for just £12 million. The midfielder signed a contract that is set to expire at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

While there is an option to extend his contract at the club, there have been no concrete talks as of yet between Arsenal and the player. Jorginho admitted that he has not had conversations yet with the club's representatives over his contract.

Ahead of the Gunners' UEFA Champions League encounter at Sevilla on October 24, the former Chelsea star said (as quoted by Standard Sport):

“No, I haven’t had any conversations to be honest. And the only thing I can say is that I feel really good here and I am really happy at Arsenal. I didn’t think [about it] to be honest with you! I am thinking about tomorrow.”

Following his move to the Emirates, Jorginho has registered 14 Premier League appearances for Arsenal, recording one assist.

He has, however, struggled to break into the starting XI under Mikel Arteta so far this season. He has come off the bench in five of his seven league appearances for the Gunners.

"I was just very surprised" - Ian Wright calls out Arsenal duo for performance in Chelsea draw

Arsenal drew 2-2 against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, October 21. The Blues initially went 2-0 up thanks to Cole Palmer's penalty in the first half and Mykhaylo Mudryk's striker at the beginning of the second.

The West London outfit seemed to be in control of the game until the final stretch of the encounter when the Gunners managed to bounce back. Declan Rice found the back of the net in the 77th minute after Robert Sanchez's clumsy pass fell at his feet.

Leandro Trossard got on the scoresheet just seven minutes later, grabbing the equalizer and splitting the points between the two London sides.

Arsenal icon Ian Wright has criticized Jorginho and Oleksandr Zinchenko for their respective displays in the encounter. The Englishman said on his podcast (via The Mirror):

"I'm thinking with Mikel in that situation you've got to recognise, [Takehiro] Tomiyasu starts that game, for me. Zinchenko, without Xhaka and what Xhaka did for us, it's not the same role, he doesn't seem to be able to do it without the way Xhaka was playing and giving him that license."

He added:

"I was just very surprised that in that game where I believed, with [Raheem] Sterling in his form as well, you have to dampen it down. Tomiyasu starts for me. And I just feel the midfield, Jorginho in there going back to his old place, no disrespect, with his lack of real drive and movement, I thought they had his number."

The Gunners are third in the Premier League table, two points behind leaders Tottenham Hotspur while Chelsea are 10th, a further nine points behind.
