Manchester City have reportedly agreed a deal with Porto to sign defender Eliaquim Mangala, but are yet to convince the player that his future lies at the Etihad.

French newspaper L’Equipe believe that Mangala, currently at the World Cup with France, is holding out for a move to Chelsea despite Porto and City agreeing a deal.

The fee reportedly agree for Mangala is believed to be in the region of £32 million, but it remains to be seen where he will be playing his football next season.

While City have made the first move, Chelsea are also interested in Mangala and are said to be his first choice.

Both teams are in need of defenders, with Chelsea having sold David Luiz to Paris Saint Germain and Manchester City still in search of a long term partner for captain Vincent Kompany.

Mangala is yet to feature for France at the World Cup, but made 12 appearances for Porto in Europe last season. He scored three times in six Europa League games and also appeared in all six games of the Portuguese side’s Champions League campaign.
