Also, as we had almost the entire bottom half of the table fighting it out to be safe from the drop, every point counted. This made us experience some of the most unexpected, out of the box equalizers. So lets have a look at some of the sensational equalizers of the year.

Villas Boas’s men were all set for a comfortable home victory. Benoit Assou-Ekotto’s 25 yard shot got deflected by Graham Dorrans into the net in the 75th minute and all they had to do was to hold onto the lead. However in 5 minutes of added time, little did they know what fate had in store for them. Baggies won a corner in the dying minutes which was not cleared, only to have it land back at Morrison’s feet who made no mistake in clinically despatching it in the net. A heartbreaking result for Spurs who had throughout the game created host of chances and failed to capitalize on the lead.

Everton Vs Newcastle 2-2

Where to start and begin and end in this match. Baines and Ba had scored on either side as the match went onto the last ten minutes. Come 88th minute and Anichebe looked to grab the vital 3 point for Everton. But Demba Ba, who was always lethal for Newcastle till his mid-season transfer to Chelsea, capitalised on a fumble to equalize. However, had a clear goal that went past the goal line before getting cleared and a goal wrongly judged offside stood, it had to be a comfortable win for the Merseysiders.

Arsenal Vs Reading 4-4 (7-5 in extra-time)

The football world and Gunner fans were in complete shock as the Royals lead Gunners by 4 goals to nil in just 37 minutes from the start. However, goals from Walcott and Giroud were turning things in Arsenal’s favour only to have Laurent Koscielny head in a dramatic equaliser in controversial 90+6 minutes with just 4 minutes added on, to push the game into extra-time. The rest was a complete rout as the game saw 12 goals being scored in an Arsenal victory in the League Cup.

Tottenham Vs Manchester United 1-1

Robin van Persie maintained his killer streak by heading in the far-post in the 25th minute. However, Tottenham were buoyed by their previous victory over United and kept up the pressure on De Gea who made several crucial saves at his end to deny Tottenham. Two minutes into added time, a weak punch from De Gea fell to Lennon, who picked up the American Dempsey, who calmly finished home from 10 yards to give United a dose of their own medicine: A late equalizer.

Liverpool Vs Chelsea 2-2

In a match distraught with controversies, this match had Luis Suarez in the spotlight. He gave away a handball earlier which cost Liverpool a penalty which Eden Hazard netted it. The match is known for the infamous Luis Suarez’s bite on Ivanovic. Then, 90+7th minute into injury time it was Suarez again who guided in a fantastic header to secure a much needed draw for Brendan Rodgers side. This was one match full of entertainment.
