Top 5 players who could be heading out of Chelsea this summer

Manchester United v Chelsea - Premier League

Chelsea have managed to land their former manager Jose Mourinho to take charge of the squad at Stamford Bridge. The second home coming of the “Special One” has given many Blues fans a hope that the Portuguese tactician will guide them to their fourth Premier League title in the club’s history.

The West London club has been playing a relatively a smaller squad during the last season and the former Real Madrid manager needs to bring in new faces to Stamford Bridge in the summer. However, in order for Mourinho to sign new players in the upcoming transfer window, he has to offload few of the existing players from the current squad.

Sportskeeda looks at the five possible players, who could be shown the exit door by Mourinho in the summer.

John Obi Mikel

Mikel could be offloaded by Mourinho in the summer and the defensive midfielder has also expressed his desire to end his time with the Europa League winners. The Nigerian international joined Chelsea in the summer of 2006 and the 26-year-old is now eyeing to team up with the Blues legend Didier Drogba at Galatasaray.

Victor Moses

Chelsea v FC Basel 1893 - UEFA Europa League Semi Final: Second Leg

Moses completed a move to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2012 and failed to feature regularly either under Roberto Di Matteo or Rafael Benitez. The 22-year-old has managed just one Premier League goal in 23 appearances out of which 11 have come from the bench.

The Nigerian international could also follow his compatriot Mikel and Mourinho could offload the former Wigan Athletic man in the summer. Moses failed to impress with his performance in his debut season and with the arrival of Andre Schurrle, the forward is unlikely to fit into the Portuguese tactician’s plan for the Europa League winners.

Demba Ba

Chelsea v Manchester City - FA Cup Semi Final

Ba joined the Blues from Newcastle United in January this year and did have a quick impact during his early games for Chelsea. Since his arrival at Stamford Bridge, the Senegalese international has bagged only six goals in 22 appearances. And if the reports are to be believed, the striker is unlikely to fit into Mourinho’s plan at the West London club.

Fernando Torres

Southampton v Chelsea - Premier League

Mourinho has admitted Torres’ performance with his current employers as “so-so” and the former Real Madrid manager is likely to replace the Spanish international in the summer. The striker joined Chelsea for a British record transfer fee of £50million from Liverpool.

Napoli star Edinson Cavani is firmly believed to be a replacement for Torres in the Blues squad, but they could face tough competition from their league rivals Manchester City and La Liga giants Real Madrid for the Uruguayan’s services.

Gael Kakuta

Vitesse Arnhem v AZ Alkmaar - Eredivisie

The 21-year-old has never been at Stamford Bridge since his arrival in 2009. The French U21 international has been on loan every season. Kakuta is now believed to be surplus of requirements at the West London club and Mourinho is now believed to offload the player in the summer transfer window.

Kakuta has spent on loan with Fulham, Bolton Wanderers, Dijon and Vitesse Arnhem. However, the winger has not impressed in either of the seasons and is unlikely to get regular first team action, even if he manages to continue with the Blues during the upcoming season.
