Top 5 Premier League players expected to leave in this winter transfer window for a spot in their World Cup squad

Chelsea's Juan Mata celebrates scoring during his side's 4-2 Premier League win at Tottenham Hotspur

The 2014 Brazil World Cup is right around the corner. There is no doubt that it will be a dream come true for any player to represent his country in the finest stage of all. And what if he don’t get enough chance to convince his manager to guarantee a spot in the squad? This is the case of a lot of players at the moment. The thing is that they don’t get enough chance to prove their manager’s that they worth some penny.

There are a lot of good players who are finding it difficult to get into their first team squads. For some it’s because they are out of form, for some its because of injury and for some others its because they are utilized not in their preferred position. Here lets take a look at some players in the premier league, who are having hard time in their respective clubs. The list look strong on paper as well as o the field. The list might go on and on. But these are the players whom I personally what to see in action in Brazil next year.

1. Juan Mata

Transfer linked with : PSG, VALENCIA

I don’t know what is in the mind of “The special one”. Who knows?? How can he bench a creative player like MATA? A player who was the master mind behind their victorious 2012 Uefa Champions league and 2013 Europa League campaign. In over 64 appearances for Chelsea last season he has scored 20 goals and assisted for another 35 goals. He can play as a Central attacking midfielder as well as a winger. But with Oscar, Hazard, Schurrle, Willian he was hardly used this season by Mourinho . If the rumors are true, he might be seen in the French champions PSG’s jersey next season. the 25 year old’s former club Valencia are also fighting for his signature. In order to guarantee a spot in Vincente Del Bosque’s team he need to move out from Chelsea which will be a heartbreaking moment for The Blues.

It will be difficult for him to find a place in the team with the likes of world class players like Iniesta, Xavi, Busquets, Fabregas, Santi Cazorla, Jesus Navas, Isco, David Silva, Koke etc. But lets hope for the best to happen.

2. Joe Hart

JOE HART

Transfer linked with : STOKE CITY, JUVENTUS

It has been a difficult season so far for the England International. A series of back to back mistakes has placed his spot as Manchester city’s no 1 in scrutiny. Now Manuel Pelligrini is searching for a first choice goalkeeper and using the reserve goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon as his first choice shot stopper. There are strong rumours that City will offer Stoke £15m and a loan of Hart until the end of the season to make the Bosna and Herzegovina international Asmir Begovic to the Ethihad stadium. With the retirement of the legendary Gian Luigi Buffon from Juventus sooner or later, there will be a big spot to recover for the “Old lady” and Joe Hart is considered to be the favorite.

In the National side he will be battling against Fraser Forster and John Ruddy as the first choice keeper. Even though these duo was used in the recent friendlies for England, their Boss Roy Hodson has stood beside Joe hart since he has been axed by City. So Hart might remain Hodson’s No 1 going into next summer’s World Cup whatever happens for the remainder of the season at Citizens. But isn’t it awkward that a first choice player in National side is finding hard to be the first choice for his club? However he has to move on and accept the transfer to revive his career.

3. David Luiz

Transfer linked with : F.C. BARCELONA , BAYERN MUNICH

David Luiz, who joined The Blues in 2011 from Benfica was forced to the side lines in their 2013 campaign under Jose Mourinho. He had so far made a mere 5 appearances under him this season. Luis, 26 was strongly linked with a summer transfer to Barcelona, but failed in a dispute over the transfer fee. The latest buzz is that both Pep Guardiola and Gerardo Martino is keen to bolster their defense by signing the unsettled Brazilian defender who can also be played as a defensive midfielder. Hope all still remember that goal line save from him in the Confederation Cup final when he cleared a sure goal shot from Spain’s Pedro? He was one of the architect behind the Blues 2012 Uefa league and 2013 Europa league victorious campaign.

In the Brazilian squad he has to fight for his place along with Dante, the teenage sensation Marquinhos, Leandro Castan, Miranda and Thiago Silva, the captain who is expected to be a sure starter in the playing eleven. In the recently end friendlies, Luiz Felipe Scolari has called both Leandra Castan and Miranda who are having an excellent run with their club sides. So he might be seen in the Chelsea shirt for the last time this December and for a place in the “Samba XI” he has to thing about a future outside Stamford Bridge.

4. Jermain Defoe

Transfer linked with : TORONTO F.C , WEST HAM UNITED, FULHAM

It’s hard times for Jermain Defoe at Spurs, following their lavishly spending summer transfer window. And its going to be worse soon. He was out of AVB’s plan’s but with Roberto Soldado‘s misfiring there was some hope for him. But there are reports that AVB is looking for another “Poacher” in order to win a silverware with spurs. Defoe has been outstanding in this seasons Europa League campaign score 7 goal’s in 5 appearances. We can see that he was their super-sub this season with most goals coming from him as a substitute. The thing are similar for him in the England’s National team too. He has most caps in the side as a substitute. He has so far 19 goals for his country in 55 appearances most of which coming as a substitute. With the form of Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge, there is no way he will get into the first team. But the first important thing is to get into that squad.

Toronto F.C and West Ham are the favorites to sign the 31 year old forward. But there are rumors that Fulham are also interested in him in order to push them from relegation.

5. Thomas Vermaelen

Transfer linked with : INTER MILAN, NAPOLI

Vermaelen has only made six appearances for the Premier League leaders, Arsenal this season with Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny in such good form at the heart of Wenger’s back-four. So the Belgian is the latest inclusion to the list of bench warmers. And another sad thing is that he is the Arsenal captain. They had conceded only 12 goals in 16 matches without their captain. And the back four are one among the reason’s for their tremendous run this season. Even though he is unsettled with the lack of matches, Wenger has urged him to stay at the Emirates.

Vermaelen was an integral part of the Belgian side who are supposed to be “The Dark Horse” in the upcoming World Championships. With the comeback of their captain Vincent Kompany his place in the national side will be in jeopardy. With the likes of Jan Vertonghen, Daniel Van Buyten, Toby Alderweireld, Nicolas Lambaerts he won’t be included in Marc Wilmonts’ side, who are having a dream run. Inter and Napoli are behind this £8 m defender, who is expected to move out this winter transfer window.
